They use Facebook.
Everyone is so nice. The food is delicious as well as the coffees. They truly cater to their customers, providing gluten free options and creating latte art - extras that aren't always a must. The atmosphere is welcoming and makes you want to stay and be cozy.
I dont mind the wait times coz I know the food will be worth it.
Good food and coffee and very friendly service
Great food friendly service
A quiet and quirky place with lots to look at as you wait (many Russian and Russian Orthodox books and souvenirs) We ordered breakfast and I had oatmeal, which was hearty and delicious with butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and walnuts and husband had the eggs, hashbrowns, and sausage which was also good.
Very nice I bought one of their wooden Celtic crossed and a saint Herman's pendant.
The staff are the best! Great homey place to enjoy some good food and great coffee! Don't forget to check out their thrift store upstairs!
One of the greatest places to get coffee, plus they have some of the best customer service I've ever come across!
My iced breve was really good! Friendly staff and delicious made-in-house eclair with such fluffy cream filling!
Excellent! At Monk's Rock they fresh roast coffee, bake bread/pastries, offer tea/juices and create an atmosphere that keeps you coming back. My favorite lunch spot in Kodiak!
Great sandwiches and awesome gift shop.
Best food on the island. Wonderful people who own it make you feel like family. The breads are excellent and I highly recommend you get there early in the morning for a warm sticky bun, pure heaven! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, plenty of seating. The thrift/book store upstairs is so worth the walk up. I found so many treasures but the best one of all was Josefina who manages the thrift shop. What a treasure with her warm engaging smile and sweet spirit. Thank you everyone for making my month long stay a wonderful one. May God continue to bless your business, may you always have flour for bread and sugar for sticky buns!! Great breakfast, an a lot of food.
Their food is great and the staff is very welcoming.
Oddly, it's run by volunteers, but I can't find any establishment with better food in Kodiak town. Old's River Inn, an hour a way, is basically the only other option, at least for a tourist who doesn't have time to give a restauramt a second chance. 5 stars by any standard, but we came from NYC area.
Wonderful place to stop for some of the best food Kodiak has to offer. The staff make you feel like family every time you stop by.
I literally had the best corn beef sandwich I've ever eaten in my life here. It was house-made corned beef and the bread was made in house. All delicious. There teas are very tasty as well. And they have honey crystals to put in the teas which is very cute. The atmosphere is really unique as well. And they sell a lot of cool little knickknacks.
Wonderful place, excellent service. Would highly recommend :-)
Must stop when you are in town. Must stop! You have no options. Great Orthodox gifts, great food and drinks.
Great coffee and doughnuts. The best breakfast and lunch sandwiches must stop while in Kodiak.
Great place to eat or browse their merchandise. The staff is very friendly and helpful as well. I totally recommend getting their breakfast burrito. It is out of this world good. Huge portions and fresh produce. Their bread and pastries are super yummy too! They close pretty early though,(around 1pm) so get there pretty early if you're wanting to do lunch there.
A little bit overpriced. But food is good, with XL size.
Great service, awesome decor, and to top it off one of the best breakfast platters I've ever had; and I've had me some breakfast platters let me tell you.
If you're visiting Kodiak, Monk's Rock is a must. Amazing food, friendly staff, organic ingredients, and wonderful coffee all in a super cool little venue. Can't wait to go back!
Amazing place, they really worked hard to create a unique atmosphere. Amazing food and helpful staff.
My favorite place for breakfast!
Nice place for a quick lunch, artisan sandwiches are a bit pricey and the amount of seating is limited, but I was told that it is run by students from the local seminary and they of course are friendly and cheerful. The gift shop portion is quite unique, lots of icons, matryoshka (nested dolls), and local crafts. The dining room walls have recycled art, placemats and rugs made from used boat ropes (lines), and other nautical items. My sandwich was a good portion of turkey and cheese with a tasty mayo and my daughter-in-law had a veggie burger that’s she described as excellent. Parking is limited and it is best approached from the south but if you have the time it is a far better choice than the McDonald's across the street.
I got the Rueben and the butternut squash soup and they were both fantastic! We went back during our visit severaltimes.
A hidden gem! Great coffee, delicious food, and a warm and inviting atmosphere. They use many organic ingredients, bake their own bread and roast their own coffee. Beautiful gifts, too, many of them locally made. Highly recommended!
Great food. Great coffee. Friendly staff. Clean facility.
What a cute cafe! We stopped for salmon salad sandwhiches, kettle chips, and pickles, yum!
Wonderful breakfast! Lovely cafe and bakery. My breakfast, The Flanigan, was an amazing sandwich but so much more. Freshly baked ciabatta style bread with egg, shaved corned beef, cheese and home style potatoes. The bread was firm but soft to the bite, perfect to stand up to this substantial sandwich! The flavor was amazing! I would normally have only eaten half but just couldn't stand the thought of leaving any behind! We are traveling so taking it along wasn't practical. The coffee was equally delicious! Planning on making another stop tomorrow before we leave Kodiak. The menu has a generous selection of other breakfast plates as well as yummy bakery choices. Well done!
Best sandwiches on the island!
Really cute with great food.
Warm, welcoming, and friendly! The coffee is tasty (try the Peanut Butter Mocha) and the food yummy (try the Breakfast Burritos). The decorations are fun, and the gift shop has great items, some of which are handmade in Kodiak.
Delicious food and great service! Loved the cozy atmosphere!
Great coffee, delicious sandwich selection, and amazing desserts. The staff is always so friendly and the prices are very reasonable.
Sweet place! Small, quaint, local restaurant with yummy sandwiches and homemade borscht, etc. A++!
The Staff are great. Since my first time here, I have been amazed by the genuine care that goes into giving you the best customer service. You just dont find this type of service these days in restaurants. The food is just a step above, I dont know who came up with these recipes, but they are out of this world. The must have here by my opinion is the Amigo Burrito. This will settle any hunger and is just perfect served with fresh fruit and salsa and sour cream. If in Kodiak for just the day, this is a MUST SEE. They also have a great gift shop with truly unique Russian Orthodox items as well as "Made In Kodiak" items.
Wonderful and unique.
Great place staffed by students. Tasty food and desserts.
Great food. Great coffee. Great service
My favorite place in town, the best food and great folks!
Great place to grab some Kodiak goodies! Here you'll find kind, courteous and friendly service - and their food shines because its made by good people! My favorite is their breakfast burrito, and their brownies are awesome! My kids also love picking up a toy or two while here. Keep up the great cooking!
Super good food and people. Very lucky to have this in our community.
So thrilled that they offer vegetarian options that are also delicious! Their menu has several options but today I had the #13 Veggie Burger and a cup of Borsch. The burger was phenomenal and I enjoyed the Borsch. The ambiance was super cozy and authentic, and the service was delightful. I’ll most definitely be back.
Fantastic breakfast burrito and friendly service in a charming little spot.
Great breakfast and Lunch. Super friendly staff. Orthodox based gift shop inside with Icons and such.
